Then last week, on Tuesday, Jordan started running a fever. We assumed it was from his shots he'd gotten the day before, but then the fever wouldn't go away, even with meds. So at two in the morning on Wednesday I got the bright idea to take him to the hospital. It seems like it wouldn't be right to take him during normal hours; that'd just be too boring. So I take him in and they say he has a lot of drainage, so they wrote us a prescription and sent us home. Thanks, doc.
Poor Jordan was so clingy and moody. I stayed home from work with him on Wednesday and Thursday (and now have zero sick days left, let's hope I don't get sick!) and babied him, like any mom would, right? He definitely wasn't himself.
And then he got better and went back to playing and walking and falling... all was right with the world. And then our precious Ali started running a fever on Thursday night. Oh no.. not again! It hit so fast, like within 20 minutes. One second she's feeling fine and the next she's burning up. So we gave her some medicine and the fever went away. The next day was suppose to be her Valentine's party. Do you remember being six years old? Any school party was a BIG deal, right? She was crushed when I told her she couldn't go to school. My husband stayed home with her that day and took her to her party for about half an hour before he thought she was going to pass out or something. They went home and he gave her more medicine and she seemed good as new. Except for the cough. It didn't sound bad at first. But then you could tell it was getting raspy. I asked her if it was hard to breath and she said no, but she's six, so she probably doesn't know what that means anyway.
Here is Jordan pulling Carter's ear... |
We had a busy weekend on top of her being sick, so I'm sure that didn't make things any better. We went to see my mom , aka Gigi, on Saturday and the kids had a BLAST. My nephew Carter was there and he and Ali played so well together! Jordan chased them around trying to bite their ears or noses...
We went home Saturday night. Ali didn't run a fever all day and her cough sounded better. Sunday the kids from Children's Church had the whole afternoon planned. They went to McDonald's and then took Valentine's Day cards to give to the residents at a nursing home. By the time we pick Ali up that night I could tell she was feeling bad again. Her eyes were watery and she just wanted us to hold her.
She stayed with Gmo that night, and the next morning she said she thought Ali needed to go to the doctor. Her cough had gotten deeper. So Kris took her to the hospital. They did x-rays of her lungs and guess what? Our baby has pneumonia, again. They gave her a shot in her leg and she was NOT happy about that at ALL. She made Kris carry her everywhere for the rest of the day! She immediately felt better, though.
So first Kris got sick, then Jordan, then Ali... but I refuse to get sick. I've been loading up on Vitamin C and eating all my veggies! Like I said, I have no sick days left, so I can't afford to be gone! Jordan is back at daycare now. He cries every single time I drop him off. It's so hard... but I know it will get better. Yesterday was his Valentine's party at daycare. I think he enjoyed it :)
